For Prospective Applicants

If you wish to apply for a visa to Bulgaria, kindly read the information on this site carefully. The guidelines listed on this site will help you to prepare your documents as accurately as possible. This will reduce the chances of your application being delayed or declined due to inadequate or incorrect submission of documents.

The Embassy of The Republic of Bulgaria in Kazakhstan are competent for:

Kazakh citizens,
Legal permanent residents in Kazakhstan
Kyrgyzstan citizens,
Legal permanent residents in Kyrgyzstan
Turkmenistan citizens,
Legal permanent residents in Turkmenistan
Tajikistan citizens,
Legal permanent residents in Tajikistan

A visa application can be submitted by the following:

Applicant himself.
Legally authorised representative of the applicant
Tour operators, legally authorised by the applicants to submit their visa application
Company representative for their employees (only if the purpose of travel is "business" or "official visit". Note that relevant supporting documents should be provided.

Required documents for all visa Categories: Please note that the following essentials must be met by all applicants submitting their applications for visa.

Passport should be valid for at least three months beyond the intended stay in Bulgaria. Please ensure Passport has at least two blank pages to which a visa can be affixed, if not a new passport must be obtained before submitting your application.

Please note: Date of passport issue cannot be older than 10 years earlier from the date of visa application. Passports older than 10 years will not be accepted.

Relevant Form, fully completed visa application form signed and dated, appropriate to the type of visa supporting documents & Photograph, original passport-size photograph.

Travel agents and Applicants can visit the Application Centre with prior appointment to submit their applications. Applications for a minor must be submitted by a parent/legal guardian.

Visa Category chosen by an applicant must be based on the purpose of travel to Bulgaria and the decision must be made by the applicant themselves – Visa Application Centre staff will not be able to assist you taking this decision.

In case of any questions regarding visa application The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria, Astana may require to additionally interview the applicant.

The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria, Astana will return processed passports to the Visa Application Centre in Astana. Applicants have a choice to decide on how they would like to collect their passports and / or documents, i.e. by subscribing for a Courier Services at the time of application submission or by collecting it from the Visa Application Centre in Almaty or Astana.

Visa for Applicants under the age of 18

Please note the following points while completing an application of a minor
The application form needs to be signed by a legal custodian or Consent from both parents to travel abroad. If the applicant is under custody of only one parent a certificate showing this is required. The documentation needs to be in copy and original and issued by the legal Kazakh authorities. The documentation also needs to be supported by the custodian's id-card.
If the applicant applies alone, both parents’ Letter of Consent is needed and it has to be approved by Notary Public. If one parent is accompanying the child, the other parent’s consent is needed. If both parents travel together with the child, there is no need for the consent. In that case birth certificate of the child is needed in copy and original.
  In addition to the mandatory documentation required, the following documentation is required for applicants under the age of 18.
  a copy of the child’s birth certificate;
an original and a photocopy of a notarised power of attorney by both parents/guardians or by one parent/guardian stating that they give their permission for the child to travel abroad in case they do not accompany the underage child.

Required Travel Insurance

A medical insurance is compulsory for visitors to Bulgaria. The insurance cover must be 30,000 Euro or equivalent to Kazakh Tenge and include costs for medical treatment, hospitalization and repatriation due to injury or medical reasons. The insurance cover must be for the entire duration of the visit and valid in Bulgaria

Please note that you have to bring your travel insurance with you when traveling due to inspections of relevant documents at the border control when entering Bulgaria.

Note: Bulgaria does not form a part of the Schengen countries.

Note: If applicant has multiple Shengen visa, the visa to Bulgaria does not need.

Note: we don’t accept the applications for a visa to Montenegro anymore.

Step 1
Before applying, please ensure you are very clear on your ‘purpose of visit’ – do remember we are here to assist and help you through the entire visa application process but are not permitted to advise or guide you on choosing a visa category. Since our work is primarily administrative in nature, we have no say on whether you will be granted a visa and how long it will take to process, as this is entirely the prerogative of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria. Step 2
Submit your application: Please ensure you read the security regulation notices before you visit the Visa Application Centre. Visit Visa Application Centre as per appointment scheduled and submit your completed Visa Application Forms along with required supporting documents.

Step 3
Pay applicable Fee: Submission Officer will advise you on total payable amount in Tenge (Visa Fee + Service fee in Tenge and a Receipt will be provided for all payments made at the Centre.
